The proposed plan for this marketing campaign is to promote myself as a competent and skilled marketer and show off my content creation skills in the form of a portfolio.
I have a keen interest in social media and marketing campaigns so after having undergone research, I am certain this is the route I would love to go down. Over my three years at university studying Media and Communications, I have found a love for content creation due to assignments and projects assigned to me. This has then led onto me starting my own social media account dedicated to spreading awareness to Type 1 Diabetes and what the day to day life is like as a diabetic. I used the skills I had learnt over my degree and created media texts, like infographics and a podcast series which helped grow my audience and achieve the following and success the account now has. I am constantly trying to grow the account and continue the spreading of awareness to the condition.
Running this account has opened up my eyes to analytics and understanding what needs to be done to run a successful social media account. It has also allowed me to develop my digital graphic designing skills.
Therefore, my planned project idea for this assignment is to create a portfolio and social media agency that highlights and emphasises my knowledge and skills that I have used and developed over the past 3 years. I will use both Instagram and Facebook to promote myself and my skills as I believe these are the best and most suited platforms for my project. Instagram is the most used platform in the world with 34 million UK users as of March 2022. Further due to the nature of the platform and sharing images this would benefit me and my project the best. Facebook is another great page for this as a lot of marketing businesses and employers use Facebook as a business tool so by creating a page and promoting the content I can create, it will make myself seem more appealing to potential employers and clients.
In addition to the portfolio aspect of this project, I will also be promoting the release of a mini e-book which will be full of graphics and tips on social media campaigns and marketing and the important things to know and learn. My aim is for it to be easy to read and appealing to the eye, but also quite short and straight to the point. Therefore I will be releasing it and the website for free for people to access and help themselves. By offering this for free it removes the aspect of people reaching out for paid help, but this will be more appealing for employers as they will be able to see my knowledge and skill set in a practical sense rather than just by word of mouth.
My plans moving forward for this project will start by looking at existing marketing campaigns and analysing the way they have promoted themselves and the products, as well as making a start on creating the content for an estimated release mid May.
